I'm getting out of the military in 13 days, and I'm driving 1400 miles to Arizona. My truck WILL NOT make it on the shoes it has now, thus the dilemma. Unfortunately, Omaha, Nebraska doesn't have more than one National tire dealer. The one National dealer is WalMart. My problem is I want to get the tire balance, and hazard coverage when I purchase the tires. This also has to translate into coverage in AZ.

Here are my options:

1. Buy one of these tires from WalMart.

2. Buy the tires I want from a local dealer and live with the risk.

If you had to choose between the three tires available from WalMart which would it be?

For what it's worth, in 30+ years of driving, except for 4-wheeling punctures on offroad tires (never covered by Road Hazard anyway) I have never had a single need for road hazard repair or rebalance on any car or truck I've owned, so I never pay extra for it anymore.
Wouldn't you want four tires?.... <grin>
Depends on what you want to spend.
Different Walmarts have different tires in stock. But they carry an off brand that is mighty cheap (someone here posted about that a few weeks ago,) and they have amazing prices on the big brands too.

Anyone know if tirerack has any sort of road hazard warrantee?

I buy the hazard warranties on every tire I've bought through Discount Tire and have used it a few times but some people get lucky and never use it.

Yes, I do. Like I said, I'm moving in 13 days. Like an Idiot, I didn't even think about the tire's I was riding home on. At least until this morning. :pat:

Road Hazard coverage?!?!?! Wanna' buy a bridge?! That's a waste of $$, IMHO.

And, when I need tires again, I'll be putting Michelin LTX's back on. Biggest bang-for-the-buck in overall on-road performance and cost.

Phalanx posted how he damaged a couple of his tires in a short period of time and they were replaced no questions asked by DTC, I think.
If I remember correctly, his whole post came about because of a guilty conscience from having inadvertantly wrecked those tires

Live with the risk. You take your lunch to work a few times and save enough to buy a new tire if needed. I would.

Still, I like the peace of mind I have with the extra $. Then again, I'm the type that buys the insurance when I rent a U-Haul.

Me too, but a part of me is saying, "Go on...live like a wild man...Don't buy that insurance!"

I'm looking into the post about WalMart tires. I know if I destroy a few of those, WalMart will replace them easily. Once I'm back in Tucson, I'll be down to Mexico at least once, and even getting to my house can be an 4x4 affair.

I forgot to mention that I will be unemployed for about three months as well.

My friend had his Revo replaced at Discount which was damaged from a tree trunk and the guy didn't even blink.

Costco gives you the road hazard,rotations and balances included in the price. BFG All Terrains were $113. Revos were $135. Membership is 35-40 bucks per year.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to update and ask for more advice. I was sick of looking at that damned Wal-Mart tire picker page, so I paid a visit to my local Super center. The fella told me that they could special order any BFG tire.

I'm going to order the A/T KO's. Here is the new Dilemma; Should I try to fit 32X11.50's or just stick with 31x10.50? I think the 32's will look sick on my stock runner, but I don't want to re-gear or grind anything...yet!

I was quoted $126 per tire @ 32x11.50.

I have the 31x10.50 KO's on my '91 and they look awesome. Great Tire! They actually stick out of the tirewell a few inches. I love them.
