Timing Belt Question ?

Timing Belt Question ?
I suspect that my timing belt has gone out.
How do i know and what do I do?
I don't know enough to shade tree this but I would like to learn if this is the problem.
When I come to light it dies. Hard to start up unless i gun it.
Will idle very low and rough.
1983 4x4

Yep, you have a timing chain.
You will know if it goes out, your engine will break.
The 22R and 22RE are an "Interference" engine meaning when the timing chain goes it can destroy the whole engine.
Best to get it looked at now if you suspect anything wrong with it.
And also get the metal chain guides from DOA, they are better than the plastic ones from Toyota.
The 3.0 and 3.4 V6 are "non interference" engines meaning if the timing "belt" breaks, the engine stops, and more than likely there will be zero damage.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong
