timing belt check/change.1998 tacoma V6
My tacoma stopped running today. I pulled the top timing belt cover turned the crank with a wrench about an inch and the belt and cams didn't turn. The belt is tight.Is that normal if the belt is broken? If your driving when it brakes does it cause valve damage? I will do the work myself,just didn't have time to pull it all apart tonight.THANKS

I assume you have a 3.4 in which case there is no valve interference, if the belt breaks you just stop. As for the belt it's possible that some teeth have been torn off and the crank pulley is slipping, or worse the key on the crank has broke and the pulley isn't turning.

Yep, the belt is done and you are in luck because it is a non-interference motor.
