Timing belt-again
I made an appointment at a recommended mechanic today to have my timing belt(chain?) and water pump replaced. Also have seals inspected.
I was quoted $480..doesn't that seem uber cheap? Am I missing something critical?
Also, I'm having my brakes check/replaced. All of this should be much less than $1k, if that price is correct.
Any input? Should I have anything else done while they're in there?
EDIT: From what I read, this is about normal...?

When I did mine I also did the idlers (2), water pump and accessory belts (ac, ps and alt)as well. My thinking was I only wanted to do it once, I just did it myself with a little help. It is a long job, but the only problem we ran into was getting the crank bolt loose as we didn't have a Toyota puller. We wound up putting a breaker bar on the bolt, laying the breaker bar on the frame under the battery side of truck and using the starter to break the bolt loose. Worked like a charm. Btw, my waterpump was seeping when we changed it.

YES! Change the idlers. A friend of mine did his daughters car (Subaru) without changing the idler. It siezed up, and took out the belt. Had to have it towed to a mechanic (she was in another state) and have it all done again.

How much do idlers typically cost? Maybe that should be done too.. AHH MAINTAINENCE!!
I'm thinking about tranny/diff/transfer case fluids being changed too. I'd like to get my own fluids tho. $$$$$$ Although I did just have my tranny done on a T-Tech 17k miles ago. That does the tcase right?
