Anyone had their timing belt replace recently. What is a ballpark figure on having the belt and the water pump replaced. Im thinking of taking it to Toyotamasters in Albuquerque if anyone is familiar with them. I looked at doing it myself but it looks too tough for my skill level. I would rather stay away from the toyota dealership because of cost reasons.

Yup, had mine done a month ago...My second one in 3 years...I believe the TB cost around $600 or so to do, and that was at my Toyota Dealership...Can't remember how much the water pump was (was replaced with the first TB)...

I'm buying all my parts OEM online for cheap then having them installed at Toyota......... way cheaper.

Had mine done a month ago also. Got parts from a buddy that works at the dealership at cost for about 350$ (timing belt, all 3 accessory belts, Waterpump, idlers, thermostat, and radiator hoses). As for labor costs i called around and got a quote of 490 from deelership, 400 from a local mechanic. I got it done by a guy on the side for 300. All said about 600.

Had mine done a few months back as well. I did the belt, water pump, accessory belts and the thermostat and it was just at $600. Had it done at the local Toyota dealership. Sounds like everyone's in the same ballpark price wise.

I had mine done at the Toyota dealer last summer; it was around $400-500 for the TB and water pump, installed. I wanna say 90K is the recommended TB interval. If yours is in good shape maybe get you can away with longer on it (like most people do).

90k is the recommended for sure. Had mine done at 95k everything looked good still. I just baby my truck too much.

Whether you change it or have someone else do it, make sure the crank bolt on the 5VZFE gets torqued to 217 ft-lbs, not the old spec of 185 ft-lbs. More info: http://www.motor.com/MAGAZINE/Articles/012007_04.html

I'm having my dealership do it. Just for the timing belt, it's $299 + I can get about 10% off. Water pump is probably another $200 on top of that. I'd rather have a trained Toyota technician do it. The guys at the dealership I go to are pretty competent and one is a TLCA member.

As Dale mentioned, be absolutely sure the bolt gets torqued to 217ft lbs AND they use a NEW bolt, not the old one. I can't tell you the number of harmonic balancers I sell because people use the old impact gun trick. It doesn't work for this application!

I've got to respectfully disagree... Bob Bridge is where I got my runner, used, and have been told by everyone in the area they are the place NOT to go to for service.
Dealing with the salesperson told me all I needed to know about their "knowledge" of toyotas. It was slim to none!
Parts...well, anyone can sell parts. Especially for cheap when every dealer in the Greater Seattle area price matches to one another. If you had to buy parts, and you're in the seattle area, just deal directly with Josh (deathcougar). nothing bad to say about him from this repeat customer.

I've heard far better things about Doxon's service dept.

Personally I use Rodland Toyota, but they do not give the general public the same discount. Michael, the parts guy, is the MOST knowledgeable person I have ever met.

You indeed can buy the parts through me as well, and save about 10% over dealer list price. That also eliminates the dealer markup they charge, calling it a "retail" price.

when i was living in everett, i went there for parts, too... VERY knowledgeable parts staff...probably dealt with all of them at one point.
