Time wasted, Lesson learned

So about a month ago I painted my stock fender flares and mudflaps black. Well after doing some wheeling and then some washing at the self-serve car wash, the warm high pressure spray took it's toll on my Krylon flat black and Krylon clear coat. It's peeling off in all kinds of places. It was kind of a pain to take them all off, clean them, paint them multi-coats, then apply multi-coat clear coat all to have them peel, but just so you know, something you know won't come up (i don't know of anything...) or just don't do it!!

On a side note, the paint I applied to metal surfaces like the frame and tow package (rustoleum) is holding up in good shape. Also, Krylon works EXCELLENT on interior applciations, but apparently doesn't stay adhered to plastic under such pressure.

learn from my failures children.

I have a friend who's a paint guy and I'll ask him what he'd use on plastic;I'm thinking of having my Bushwackers painted glossy black instead of flat.

kford,

aren't you supposed to use plastic prep, primer for plastic, and paint made especially for plastic? i saw similar stuff made by SEM in an auto paint store awhile back.

i think vato had some good success w/ painting plastic and haveblue is an expert at this stuff too.
