throttle body cleaning question
I want to clean the on my ’85 22re. For the safety of the TPS, should I take the TB off and remove the TPS before cleaning? It would seem to me the I could do a better job this way. I seem to recall somewhere that there is a TPS safe cleaner that you can use while leaving the TB on the engine, but I am skeptical. My fear is removing the TPS and messing up the adjustment so the truck won’t run at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Donnie

Its easy to readjust the TPS:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml
Plus you can see if any gunk has built up between the TPS and TB.
Otherwise, you could use a small brush and scrub out the parts of the TB you can reach w/o too much chance of getting anything in the TPS (its on the side of the TB).

That's a good link 4Crawler, thanks!
A couple months after cleaning my TB my TPS sensor went bad and had to be replaced. I'll keep that info in mind.
