are these a bad idea...
...to put in my headlights?
my buddy got 'em off ebay for $9.99. the auction is actually for a 4runner, the auction reads:
the bold part is what relieves me, but i dont wanna stick these things in if theyre gonna die or produce bad light or fry my wiring.

My experience with "cheap" aftermarket bulbs is that they always burn out prematurely. And they always burn out in singles at the most inopportune time.
I guess that's better than burning out in pairs.
I would avoid them personally.

what is the span of time youre calling 'premature'?
i mean, 9.99 for bulbs that last a few months wouldnt really kill me to do once. ive heard silverstars can burn out early too and they aint cheap!

I had bulbs like this burn out once every 3 months. Finally I got sick of replacing them and went back to stock (that was in my 95 Civic Si BTW). I have another friend that stepped up to PIAA's and he got 6 months out of each bulb.
You definitely get what you pay for. When my stockers burn out (80K miles and counting) I will probably go to Silverstars.

OK. i guess ill just keep my stock bulbs in the truck with me in case of a burn out. it wont be fun changing the bulb by the side of the road or whatever, but it'd be nice to get a change for a bit.

I went through a bunch like Christian said.
When I bought my 4Runner over two years ago, I bought another set, I think it was made by Nokya. Anyways, those bulbs are still going strong. I am not that big into blue lights anymore, so when these burn out, I am going back to OEM.

I've found you get better results by buying the Diamond cut headlights. there like 20 bucks on ebay, They reflect much more light as opposed to the HIDS in the stock glass.

I got some generic 'hid' 6k bulbs off ebay for cheap. They are bright asa crap and very white, and have lasted over a year. My cheap-o white H3s in my factory fogs aren't so great though. Worst case scenario you're out $10.

i had them exact pair, paid $25 at a car show last year, they lasted about 2 months, ( i really liked them) and one burnt out, yes, i called the co. they said to send it back with $5.00 for return postage, but i had to pay to send it in, so, in closing.. im not going to waist my money again.

I've had similar bulbs in my 4runner for 2 years now and I've had only one burn out. If you do get them I would buy 2 pairs, as said previously it seems like only one bulb out of the pair will burn up prematurely.

i guess i want to do a test run before comitting to them. i dont even know that i'll like the color/style/look enough to keep em in.
i just wanted to make sure it was ok, and there were no major reasons why i shouldnt do this.

Hell, if you try them they were only 10 bucks.
I got some lights that are *kind* of like those, in my experience cheap headlights are just as likely to burn out inopportunely as OEM, and the headlights I have are much brighter than stock (80 Lo, 100W high I think...) They work better at the dunes and such, and I prefer their color to a yellow OEM.

I've run a few pairs of cheap bulbs, and the thing I found was they weren't as bright as stock. Blue & dim, and I never left any in long enough to see how long they last. I live way out in the country and really need nice bright lights. Buddies who live in town don't care. I finally went with PIAAs (and they were spendy) and love them!

I have the cheap blue bulbs on the accord for lets see about 3.5 years now and they still havent burned out. They actually have changed colors from when I first put them on to now. It actually seems to emit more light now. Maybe because some of the blue tint is fading on the bulbs.

i got mine bulbs from www.procarparts.com when i got my h4 projector style conversion..... they have been in there for 6 months and still are fine.... they are the cheapo hid style ones, but they are brighter than stock.... they say they are 80/100 watt, but i really dont beleive it... way brighter and bluer than the stocks thogh... but not too blue as to get attention from the boys in blue

i have some bulbs liike that... xenon i think.?? not sure. didn't notice much difference in brightness, but they are whiter, and the headlights havea blue tint now, even when off. id say put em in, its not that hard to change a bulb
