...that I've lost control of my truck on ice/snow. 1st time was on I-90 (nothing too bad happened, kind of) and then just the other day. I went into a ditch, wasn't going fast at all, and I was able to just back out (I love Toyota's!) Alignment was perfect and nothing got damaged. Anyways, the stock tires on my truck suck. With my old truck I NEVER had a problem. The only thing I can think of being different was that I had good tires on my old truck. I had that truck in the exact, and even worse conditions and it performed great.

What happening is that I'm still getting used to driving my new truck in the snow/ice and since I was used to my old truck, I don't realize that the tires I have suck. So, it looks as if I'm going to need new tires. I'm going to go with BFG AT's. That's what I was using on my old truck, and they kicked ass.

why revos. i hate bfg all terrains on my explorer and i loved them so much i bought some for the tacoma. i wont be getting any for the 4runner cause its for the rocks. BFG allterrains ROCK!

Edit: I know the BFG's are close, but the Revos are cheaper, plus I've had the BFG's and I figure, why not try something new.

What do you have on your Tacoma that sucks?

I have BFG A/T's, and they have owrked well in snow/ice. Never lost control. But they aren't the best in rain because they hydroplane more than I like.

I have been extremely happy with my Toyo open countrys. Just put a set on the other (4th gen) runner this weekend.

You will love the revos...

IF there are any shortcommings to the BFGs off road, they more than make up for themselves on road. IMHO the bfgs don't touch the Revos on the street. But I don't have the directions, so I could be wrong.

Do you have the stock BFG Rugged Trail's? I haven't heard one good thing about those tires.

Same thing happened to me, but obviously it wasn't on snow. When it rained I would spin constantly trying to merge or even going off a red light. Everybody said I just had a "heavy foot" until I gave my brother those tires and I got some BFGs. He said the first red light he got to it was raining, and spun uncontrollably for at least 5 seconds. 3 days later he lost control because his back end came around (becauuse of those tires), and he nailed a median. Needless to say, those tires are now in a junk yard.
Something I learned off of Gran Turismo is that tires is the most important "upgrade" you can do to your car. Many drivers forget that the tires are the only thing on the car that are actually touching the road (or ice ).

one thing i learned about tires is, its not only important to get high quality, but ones that also fit the driving style of your vehicle.

like right now im running some "decent" dunlop A/T's, but they really dont make good use of my runner's 4wd.

my dad's awd rx300 has similar tires to mine, and they work much better for his car.

I hit some ice on the way back from playing in the snow Saturday, talk about a pucker factor. Coming down the hill on a very curvy part of the road, gently touched the brake to slow down for a corner and my front wheel locks up. Released the brakes, truck started going sideways a bit heading for the hillside. Got the right front wheel in the ditch full of snow up against the hillside and managed to keep control on the corner. Thought for sure I'd end up in the trees on the other side of the road and the 2 guys I went wheelin' with would find me battered up when they came down the road. BFG A/T tires btw.

I drove a year on bald tires... lol... never had any problems... they just hyrdoplaned really easy if i was pushing the 4Runner... but after the couple screw-ups I was used to it...
