tell me what you think
im considering buyin a 97 4runner SR5 4x4with 224,000 miles its a metallic brown which im not sure how that will look, it has had a couple of timing belt changes and sounds like everything is in working order. the only thing is is has a little bit of body damage... the fender, rear quarter, and a little bit on the doors, it sounds like minor scraps. but anyways the guy's askin $3400... is it worth that with the damage ??
thanks for the advice.

Depending on the Damage its prolly not worth it. Or at least not worth 3400. It all depends on the damage. The thing that brings the price to even that low is the miles. Thats high miles for a 97. Try and get pics of it.

thanks pattycakes, i just got the pics its not too pretty ... it would need a new fender, the front bumper has a good sized dent, and the front door has rust from the scrap/dent and so does the rear fender well. its not big but its noticeable. so its definintly not worth thr 3400 for me

Yeah try to lower the price a bit, the tin is probably gonna set you back a pretty penny if you want everything new. But in a salvage yard you could pick up a new fender and everything else for around 150 or so. Check the drive train and everything. If thats in good runing condition then i think you should consider it. What kinda engine does it have?

yeah, if it's just cosmetic and you can get it cheaper that would be really cool. and if you don't like the brown color, since you're doing some body work on it, maybe just tape it off and spray it with some flat (color of your choice) spray paint. i may be picking up a 1st gen 4runner that i'm sure has some rust damage and has seen a few scrapes in it's days so i think i'm going to pound out what i need to and perhaps tack on some new metal where needed (nothing pretty) and go spray crazy on it for ease, won't care if it gets a scratch or looks dirty or starts to rust; just sand a little bit and break out the spray can and 10 minutes later i'm good to go!
yeah, does it have the 3.4 v6?
