Tell about the advantages of adding a locker
Please telll me the benefits of a locker.
Better driving in snow with my Pre Runner?
I assume a locker gives you positraction.
Brand names?
Cost for parts and install?
Any disadvantages?

A locker and positraction are two different beasts. Positraction is another name for limited slip. Limited slip is exactly what it sounds like. It limits the amount of differential slippage while power is being applied. A locker locks the differential and prevents both wheels from spinning independently from each other.
ARB, Aussie, and Detroit are brands of lockers. Your Pre-Runner didn't come with a locker? I thought all Pre-Runners came with them. Or is this a conversion project? You could swap in an electric locker. A few on the board have done it. It will cost a little less than an ARB which will run you about $1800 start to finish.

Well a locker wouldn't be a benefit to me in snow.I thought a locker was posi(limited slip).
Now that you mention it I have the truck a few weeks and don't know if has a locker or not.I doubt it because I don't see any buttons anywhere other than on the shifter.
Which I would assume is the overdrive on/off button.

I disagree on the snow part. A locker can help you in the snow if you are wheeling on trails or Forest Service Roads. I would agree with causing trouble on freeway driving in the snow and ice.

Not too trails or Forest Service Roads in NJ.
I'm looking for on road snow use benefit so I'm screwed.

a locker would help if one tire is stuck and the other tire is not.
I used to have Detroit Locker and didn't do too well in the snow. I was sliding a lot on the curve that have angle. The guys that don't run locker just goes around the corner slowly. I had to speed up so that my rear won't side toward the inside of the curve. I live in So. CA so snow is not a big problem.
I see benifit of having a switchable locker that can help in some situation. I know you don't have 4wd but if you do, having locker in the front during straight road would help more than the rear.
I've since switch to cable converted toyota elocker in the rear and ARB inthe front.

A manual locker may help some, but the cost benefit curve would likely not balance.
A locker locks both rear axles togther. Auto lockers do it only under load. Manual lockers do it until they are disengaged.
