I thought I should share this since the other thread I posted had a different title.

The tacoma bar requires the mount to be extended out 3" to fit the 99-02 front bumpers. Should be a little less for the 96-98. There are a few options to extend the mount.

1) You can use a block with an extended bolt.
2) You can make a 3" u-bracket extension.
3) You can get a 3" extension welded on.

Required parts...

Extending parts...

1) If you plan on doing what I did... Using a block to extend it...
-4 1/2" bolt size 1/2 (2)
-3" block at least 2.5" in diameter with a 1/2" center hole... I used Roger Brown's ultimate bodylift blocks. (2)

2) If you go with a u-bracket extension..
-at least a 2.5" wide heavy duty piece of metal with the following dimensions 2.5"x3"x2.5" Then drill a hole large enough to fit a 1/2" bolt. (2)
-1" bolt size 1/2 (2)
-size 1/2 washers (2)
-size 1/2 nuts (2)

3) a welder...

Here is how it looks.





Total cost for everything brand new with extension option 1...

Tacoma safari bar and mounting kit off eBay - $130
Roger Brown's lift block - $25.50
4" size 1/2 bolts - $2.50
Grand Total including shipping - $157.50

"looks good", but actually offers very little protection, will actually cause more damage than it prevents in a small to medium velocity accident, and it actually reduces your approach angle...

cool for looks, bad for function.

I like it a lot, guess that is one of the few choices when doing a body lift. I think this may be one of my only options after I do mine. Most brush guards oerform he same fuction too, They also decrease approach angles, and do more damage in higher velocity accidents. Fortunately most of my collisions are low velocity, and my original WAAG brish guard spaed me some paint quite a few times, until I finally destroyed it. I think it looks good, and it will definately protect the front of your rig if you wind up tapping somehting, as most do. Also, how did you get it to come up with the lift?

Custom brackets is probably your only option for raising it.

Thanks guys and yes... The bar is very weak... I would compare it to an exhaust piping. I only got it so I could mount my lights. It was either trying this or drilling holes on the bumper.

The only aftermarket bumper I would get rid of my factory one for is the ARB one color matched just like yours...

so would the safari bar hit about level with the top of the bumper without a body lift? i really like where yours hits

I don't really like the beam of the driving lights... I'm probably going to replace them with some fog lights.

The bar is right at the part where the valence sticks out with the 2" bodylift. Without one, I would estimate it to sit somewhere next to the top of the bumper.
