Tacoma Lights Question

Has anyone ever tried to convert the turn signal lights in an 01-04 tacoma in the front bumper below the driving lights into fog or driving lights?

the housings were not designed for the high heat of a fog.driving bulb and the lense was not designed for that kind of light output/dispersion either

I haven't tried it, but you may be able to get away with removing the bumper lights all together and replacing them with some hella 550's. minor fabrication may be needed...

Yes... This subject comes up regularly over at CustomTacos. A couple of people have replaced the OEM turn signal lamps with higher-output ones (using the stock lenses). Not sure how much of an illumination improvement this might be, though.... Also don't know if either of them has melted his bumper lamp enclosures yet... ;-)

A closely-related tactic is to mount additional lights in the bumper (alongside the OEM bumper lamps). Check this thread over at Tacoma Territory for some comments and pics (or pointers to pics)....

i'm actually going to try and do this with my TJM T-17. It's going to be here thursday. I want to put the fogs in the hole for the blinker. If i can set something up in there, then i'll rewire the running lights to be my blinkers. I really like the ARB with the fog holes, but it was a little to expensive just to have the fogs in the bumper like i wanted em.
