I have a 97 Tacoma 4x4 V6 ext cab with a broken leaf spring, there are 3 normal springs and one overload spring. The bottom spring broke. I called the junkyard and they want $150 for the whole spring assembly. To have one spring made it's $140. I notice Downey/Performance Products have add-a-leafs for $45. could I remove the lower spring and install this. Or maybe buy two new springs, I see Old Man Emu has a set for $350, but it looks like they are 98' and newer. I primarily drive this on the street and don't want big tires, a small lift would be okay, preferable less than 1 1/2" Are there any other options out there??????

my only advice would be to do the same thing to both sides. kind of like breaks. otherwise it might ride funny.

So only 1 of the 3 leaves broke? How does that side sit now with only 2 leaves? If it's a possibility you could just take the other leaf out of the other side if necessary....dunno just brainstorming on that one.

I don't think it would be too safe only having two working leaf springs... I'm thinking I may just buy an add-a-leaf to replace the lower springs and hope it doesn't lift the rear end too much...
