A/T oil temperature sensor

I have tried searching and turned up with nothing. I have an 89 auto and I need to know witch connection on my transmission is the a/t oil temp. sensor that feeds the ECT. I have no O/D. Where is it at, what color is it or what is it next to. Any help would be great.

Your transmission won't shift into OD unless the engine has reached operating temperature. You might want to look into your coolant temperature sensor first. Otherwise, check and see if there is a cooler thermostat or no thermostat at all. When did this problem start? How many miles do you have? 4cylinder or V6?

It started happening about 2 months ago every once in a while. now it almost never does. I replaced the collant temp. switch and no luck. It is an v6 with 184,000. also thanks for the drawing I read a thread that had that. But that picture is kinda vague. I didn't want to unplug the wrong one. I called the dealer for the part and price he sad there was 2 on my truck one was 110. and the was 190. and I cant afford to get the wrong one.

The dealer should be able to tell you which one you need using the vin#. If they don't maybe they're just lazy. Also try looking at a wrecking yard first.

Another think has me wondering if you've pulled a code and are sure this is the problem? And has the O/D light been flashing? Have you had any work done to the truck that coincides with this problem starting?

Pretty hard to figure out whats wrong then. The lights(bulbs) can be obtained at any autostore or perhaps even most hardware stores. Probly cost less than 2 buck. Cheaper than spendin a hun and a bit on something you may not need. IMHO
