help: I just bought a Razo shifter w/od button. I have a 2002 2wd 4runner t style stock automatic shifter with the overdrive button on the side of the handle. Does anyone know how to take it off also anything I should be careful on? I dont know what to do since the overdrive is on the knob? Any help pls. Thanks in advance

That's cool, I didn't know we could even change out the knob. I thought because of the OD we were left out.
I would check out Jason B's site
He probably has some more info for you.
How much was the Razo knob by the way?

I installed the Levoc a few years ago. Real nice Japan quality and the OD has a nice feel to it. I suggest you put the shifter in neutral to have more room to work. I disconnected the battery, always do when messing with the electrical and you'll have to cut the OD wire. The T handle unscrews if I remember and then it just explodes on ya. :beaver: Pieces go everywhere. Mine came with a quick disconnect connector, but I just spliced in with a good stereo grade butt/crimp connector. Pretty easy install. I kinda wish I cut the shaft a bit as the Levoc sits a bit high, but I'm so used to it after all these years.

This was my first mod on my 'new' Runner. Took me about 3 hours. I had to retap the setscrew holes as it looked like some chrome plating was'nt cleaned out and the screws would'nt go in. I was real nervous, but after the stock shifter exploded on removal, I knew I had to finish it....stayed up past midnight...good luck. It feels waaaay better than the stock plastic T-bone.

Wish I could be more helpful, but I have a 4x4 with the straight handle.

In terms of the od button, be very careful removing it. There is a little spring in there that likes to pop out. On mine, the od button was connected to to a wire that ran through the shifter into the center console area. I had to disconnect several things in the center console in order to have enough slack to work the od button.

mgspann you by chance didnt change out your stock one for an aftermarket one did ya? if so do ya still have the original handle that you could maybe put in a box and wait for some funds to be shipped your way, then to have the box with said handle inside shipped to my location?

instigator - I was working on replacing the trim around the shifter and needed to remove the handle to do so.

Sorry, still stock.
