I'm new here so this might be in the wrong section. Please LMK if it is.

I've had to do this twice on my rig already but I'm drawing a blank on how.

I need to pull my t-case out and swap it. I can't remember for the life of me how the hell I got the u-joint bracket of the flange bolts on the t-case. It is on there tight as all hell.


I remember that there was some jacking of the t-case/tranny involved and I think one time I actually unbolted the tcase and split it open but I could be making that up in my head.


Are there any tricks to get the u-joint bracket of the flange bolts?



Any help is appreciated.

Just what are you talking about The front driveshaft

It can be a little tricky I find the easy way is to have one hand from the front of the crossmember and one come in from behind.

I use a 14mm box wrench for the leverage.

Rear is pretty easy.

Are you talking about the staked nut holding the flange on??

If you are talking about getting the front shaft off the studs on the flange, the trick is the front end of the front shaft has bolts and not studs. Remove the front bolts, and the front end just slides off, then pull the front shaft forward off the studs on the flange that connects to the rear of the front shaft.

If you can't get the rear shaft to compress enough to come off the studs on that flange, pull the zerk on the slider yoke. I just did my clutch and I was able to worry it off without pulling the zerk--but it had been six months since I last greased it. I had deliberately held off because I knew a clutch job was coming.

It would help if you were a little more clear about what your problem is.
