Sylvania or Hella

i know lots of ppl have discussed the sylvania silverstars and ppl have loved them and hated them.

my driver side head light is out and instead of replacing it with a sealed beam again, i was already thinking of getting something better and brighter this time, non sealed beams.

ive been looking into the hellas with some h4s in them. they cost about $35 each ...

now with the sylvanias... how good are they? i mean, i know the bulb is what counts for brightness....i could get sylvanias, hellas, philips h4s whatever... but the housing counts too yeh? for projection, pattern... etc.... im on a tight budget due to other car repairs that need to be done Are the silverstars worth the $ or should i just spend a lil more and get the hellas? ... better in the long run?

thanks !

See this thread: Daniel Stern Lighting

I've yet to get my lights but I'm confident that they're going to be the best setup out there.

I don't know about the philips bulbs, but I think I had some philips sealed beams from walmart once and they sucked terribly. If you don't want to go with those bulbs from Daniel Stern for $18 apiece, then at least get some Sylvannia's. As for housings, go with the Hella E-codes. Shoot Daniel an email and ask him what he recommends. That's what I did and he helped me out a lot.

$40 apiece. I know that's a little high but they're the best. I figure something worth doing is worth doing right.

Read the info on Daniel Stern's site.
Higher wattage bulbs do not make for a better brighter light.
He has a good tech & FAQ section.

The housing you bought are similar to the E codes Chris & I have, but they are DOT approved, ours are not.

Order some of the 55/60 bulbs that I posted about in the thread that Chris mentioned earlier.
Daniel told me those bulbs rock.
