suspension/shocks problem
I'm the 2nd owner of a 98 SR5 4runner and I think I have a suspension/shocks problem. The ride feels like it wobbles and everytime i go through several minor bumps it feels like my front suspension is about to fall apart or my vehicle shifts from right to left and wobbles at the same time. There was a recall on the rear hollow springs, but that was fixed by the 1st owner back in 6/03 when he took it to the dealer. The questions is can I still take it back to the same dealer to check out the front suspension? should they fix it without charging me a dime?

Bad shocks? The shocks on mine were totally shot when I bought it - it was downright scary when you went across RR tracks - seemed like the truck got sideways!

shocks would be the main culpret. are they black or yellow? the previous owner might have thrown in some cheap (crap) shocks for the hell of it.
uhm, another thing. have you driven an suv before?

I'd have to agree. If they are black they are probably origanal. I would start there. THis can cause a really bad swaying in the front but it could also be a broken sway bar end link. Pretty rare to break one during normal driving but I have seen it. This would definetly casue a "sway" in the front. Take it to the dealership. They may not do the work for free but the inspection shouldn't be a charge. When in doubt call and ask.
BTW. if you have any plans to do a lift. I would take that into consideration before you put money into it to make it right at stock hieght. You may end up paying for parts twice.
