My 95 V6 gets about 17.5mpg + on the highway and about 15mpg around town. And I don't drive like an old lady. It sounds like you need an all out tune up.

-Spark plugs and wires
-cap and rotor
-pcv valve
-fuel filter
-upgrade your airfilter (K&N - Amsoil)
-clean your throttle body
-switch to synthetic fluids
-check tire pressure
-check timing

Ok here is one for ya, I just moved back to Mn from NC. I am getting about 50 to 65 more miles to a tank, and the driving is compareable to what I did before. I did mount the tank I made that will replace the one I have under there now. It is located where the spare used to go. So I can see not having the wind tunnel right there, but not that much difference. I am wondering if it is the gas. They use more ethanol up here than there, but I did not think it would do that much of a difference.

Yeah, but you're running 35's with a 22re...Your speedo is off, so you're probably getting a little bit better than 11...And I'll bet you're gonna ask Santa for some new gears.

that sounds like it's too much...H2's get around 11mpg!! i think there would be a phenominal difference between a huge SUV with a gas guzzlin V8 and a 4-6 cyl. engine in a much smaller SUV.... you can get better... that tune up has gotta help.

What size tires are you running, and if they are bigger then 31's what gears do you have?

I get somewhere around 10mpg on my 33's with stock gears. Don't forget that the 3.0 3vze is the biggest POS 6 cylinder Toyota has ever made

i'm running 31s, and i didn't know about the 3vze being a pos. i'll probably just sell it, instead of waisting my money on a overhaul of a pos.

Naw, Santa the taxman visited last spring break with the new gears (5.29's). The new gears and 35's actually corrected my speedo for the most part. Now it runs pretty close to stock compared to stock gears with 31's. With the old setup at 55, my speedo said about 45. It was about a 10th of a mile off. I do need a tune up though, but I'd rather save the money to do an engine/tranny swap .

Ive got 31's with stock gears and after accounting for my spedo being off im still getting 18+ mpg. Something is deffinetly wrong if your getting 12.
