My milage also seemed to suck as soon as we got the first cold snap. 290km per tank!!! This last summer I installed the dackplate, true flow air filter and M.I.T. I also changed the diffs, transmission, transfer case, and engine all to amsoil synthetic, with an amsoil oil filter. 2 tanks ago I cleaned the MAF without much change. I just changed the engine oil, and sent it in for analisys, everything was good except they found fuel in my oil, and they recomended cleaning my injectors. I have heard pro's and cons about seafoam, so I am waiting for them to finish building my dealer so they can clean my injectors. Could dirty injectors cut my milage from 500km a tank to 290 km a tank?

It could be where you bought gas. Find a gas station that has good fuel and you get good mileage from.
There's a name brand station here that I've consistently clocked 2-3 mpg less when using their gas. Needless to say, I don't buy gas there anymore.

Well are you doing it like this: total # of miles on trip odometer (Divided by) total gallons filled up?
Anyway it could be the fact that your doing all city driving and the winter grades of fuel round now. Just for reference I went from 16ish to 14.7 with the winter grades.
Or it could be the combination of new parts, who makes the spark plugs and air filter? They could be causing problems, I would only use NGK plugs and purolator or amisol air filters, same goes for oil filters. Then there is the fact the oil you used may not be what your engine likes.

back on topic...so you did a tune up, and are now gettin worse gas mileage...hmm...you said you put in new plugs, first off what brand? second did u gap them correctly. also when you pulled your old plugs what did they look like, black and covered in soot, a little black with some white, or all white. did they smell like fuel? etc
another thing to think about your cat and o2 sensors. i would probally clean your intake piping, throttle body, and run the seafoam(i did it, didnt notice a huge mileage increase, but it did what they said it would do)

Pulled 220 miles on 15.8 gallons, so there has not been any improvement. The car runs so smoothly I dont know what else it could be. 14mpg is definetly not what this 4runner should be getting, especially when I rarely even hit 2500 rpms when accelerating.
the plugs were gapped correctly, they are the NGK iridiums, bought them after hearing good things on this forum about them. When I pulled my old plugs they didnt look that bad at all, seem to have a proper burning fuel ratio.
Any other ideas would be helpful.

Your mileage isn't unusual considering it predominantly city driving. Short distances, stop and go driving, cold engine...all contribute to low MPG's.
Is your concern predominantly because your "new" mpg's are lower than your pre tune-up mpg's or are you thinking both before and after #'s should be higher?

I have talked to many people who get an average of 16-19 all city and i'm just trying to figure out what else I can do to get better gas mileage.

I was getting around 14-15, and then i replaced my 02 sensor and now i am getting somewhere around 18.5, and thats with out a thermostat, so it runs pretty rich in the mornings.

Both o2 sensors have been replaced. I cleaned the maf today and reset the ecu, hopefully I see 250+ on the next tank.

Any luck with the 02's? I replaced my front 02 sensor, but not the rear one in hopes of better mileage after my similar situation as yours where I have tuned up EVERYTHING to no avail.
Could it be the rear 02 sensor? I was under the impression that the front one was the only one that really mattered...I have also cleaned out the MAF with some electronic cleaner.
Currently getting around 190 per tank of 15 gallons.
