Steering Trouble with TJM On
Hey all, I just got my TJM on and I am noticing a big difference in steering. I have a 97 with 90,000 miles and stock springs. Also, I am getting some vibes though the steering. You guys think this will clear when I get new OME springs up front ? Anyone else with a similar experience?

Ditto on what Keisur said. I noticed a difference in handling, could "feel" the weight on the front, but the bumper shouldn't be changing CV angles or anything significantly, so it sounds like something else was in rough shape before, and is finally ready to give up the ghost. I'd crawl underneath and start tugging on stuff, you don't want something to give out when you're going 75 mph.

I bet the stock springs are sagging throwing it out of alignment. Jut like if you lowered it.
You really should get a bit stiffer spring, especialy if you put a winch in there. There is a guy with a Tacoma out here and a ARB bumper with a warn winch and his truck is a good inch lower than a stock Tacoma.

Yeah, after taking a closer look from below it seems that it is the springs causing the trouble. I think I may have over reacted at first about the vibration. I think I am just "feeling the weight" This was bound to happen after driving around with some manik crap up front, which I destroyed in a rear-ender! I will be searching out OMEs now. Anybody got a quick explanation of the difference b/w the 891 and 892s?

Stiffness of the spring. You have choices for the back for your 97, but I think OME only has one coil/shock set-up for the the front, if I'm not mistaken. With your TJM, your definitely going to need a spacer, and may need to replace springs more often with the extra weight in front. I'd go for the SAWS, will be about the same amount of money in the long run, and you end up with an adjustable, rebuildable, kick @ss shock!
