Starter is a PITA to R&R on a 3.4!
I just finished replacing my starter with a reman unit from Napa on my 4Runner. I used the write-up in the tech section from HaveBlue.
First is the endless combinations of extentions, swivels and wobblies needed to get at the bolts to loosen it.
Second is the game of getting it out of between the frame rail, body and exaust manifold, it was like a rubic cube puzzel.
Thanks HaveBlue for the great write-up, only thing to add is that I needed a bobby pin to press down the tang on the solenoid wire connector.
It is definately a do it your self type of job, but you need to bring patience and small hands. Fortunately for me a had a bit of both.
It took me almost 2 hours from start to finish, as always it is only hard the first time, and I could probable do it in half that next time.

Ya, it was kinda long and drawn out. Took me probly 3 hrs, I couldn't find the write up. Getting it unbolted wasn't so hard for me, i was trying to contemplate how the heck I was to get it out of there.
