Starter contact selenoids part #

I read HaveBlue's write up on the starter removal/install......
I just need to know if anyone has a part # for the contact rebuild kit or starter kit that includes the 2 new contacts. My local dealership was no help "You gotta buy the whole assembly for $230."

Read the link!!

"Which type should I order?
The Type-A contact should fit in almost all starter solenoids
It can also replace a Type-B or Type-C contact, only difference is a bit smaller contact surface area
The Type-B or C contact will fit the battery side on the newer Toyota engines/starters
If in doubt, get one of each and you can return the unused contacts for credit (US$4.00/ea. to your PayPal account)
You may even be able to upgrade a smaller contact with a larger one if it physically fits
The larger contacts have about 50% more copper in contact with the solenoid plunger, so should last longer
Best bet is to open up the solenoid in the starter and have a look at the contacts. This way you'll know for sure if the contacts are worn and if so how many and which type you'll need. "

when you take the starter apart, match it to the picture I posted, or buy all of them for 20 bucks and send the unused ones back for a refund.

Or pay the dealer.

My starter on my 93 4Runner with 3.0 had two contacts that looked like "A". The replacements supplied by Toyota were an "A" and a "D". I put the "D" on the side that gets the most wear.

Here's a couple of pics:

And one of my little helper bolting the access panel back in. He just turned 6. The red between his legs is the jackstand. Safety first...

For my 1997 4Runner the contact part numbers were:

28226-54340 And 28226-72010

Hope this helps.
