Speed Sensor location, 97 Tacoma

Hey everybody,
Let me start off by saying I spent a long time searching this forum for the answer with no luck...
I have a 1997 Tacoma with a 3.4 V6, manual transmission 4wd.
The speedometer and odometer both stopped working. I was not sure if the problem was a speed sensor or a cable, but after searching I THINK its the sensor. My new problem is, I cannot locate it anywhere... From previous posts it seems like this part should be right out in the open near the driveshaft on the transmission. I cant find anything that might resemble it, does anybody have any picture or advice on where this part is?

Thanks for the help!!
Paul

There is no one speed sensor for the 5VZ's...It uses the 4 wheel speed sensors to input to the ABS ECU then it sends that signal to the combo meter...all 4 speed sensors would have to go bad to not input the speed signal...Have any codes?..say ABS and Check Enginge as well?...I would start looking into the combo meter/combo meter harness connectors..

Yes, the check engine light is on. Ill look into the combo meter/ combo meter harness connectors. Any suggestion on how to go about this? Is it a small/cheap enough job that I could just leave for my mechanic (Ill be bringing it in for inspection soon anyway)
Thanks so much for the help so far!!

Return - I'm having the exact same issue with my 97. (V6, 3.4L, manual, 4wd)

My speedometer and odometer have both stopped working, and check engine light is also on. Where you able to resolve this issue? And if so, how can I go about correcting the problems?

I'd appreciate the help!

Possible TPS Issue.

I would check your throttle position sensor. They can develop a dead spot.
