I am going to change the plugs in my wifes '97 tacoma. It has the 2.7L 4x4. I was wondering are there anything special about the plugs like do they have to be iridium plugs. I was going to use the regular NGK plug from advance auto, they said it was a V Power NGK plug. Is this gonna be allright?

Bigvick, I would put the stock park plugs back in! I have tried platinum, iridiums, etc. Mine ran better with the stock ones!

just buy denso or ngk and stay away from any other brand

The NGK V Power plugs are a fine choice, as are most any NGK or Denso plug.

It needs to be either an NGK or Denso, dual electrode plug or a high end iridium plug only.
I, myself only use the OEM dual electrode plugs from the dealer.

This is on the 2.7L Tacoma of my wifes. I know my 3.4L 4runner takes the dual electrodes. I found the manual for the Tacoma when I got home from work. Got the V-Power NGK's, which is exactly what the manual called for as replacements. Those poor stock Denso's with 146xxx on them, may they r.i.p. I checked the gap on them when I took them out and they were wore down to about 0.055 gap No wonder the engine was stumbling sometimes. Put the NGK's in and it's like new again, no rough idle, no stumbling, and quieter. Thanks everybody for the help, I wasn't sure if I could find the manual or not. Again Thanks!

Sorry, passed over the fact it was a 2.7L......glad it is running 100% again.

I myself use the OEM dual electrodes as well. Got the set of 6 for like $20 at the local dealer.
