Smell of burnt oil....
Hey guys! New to the site, my names David...have a 94 4Runner. I tried to do a search (found nothing) to resolve a problem that I can't seem to fix w/ my 4Run, and I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.
There is an overwhelming smell of fuel when the 4Run is parked after being driven for a bit. I don't notice it just after I park, but when I return to get back into it. The odor has started to turn into something more like a burnt, crude, like oil/fuel smell...anyone got any clue?

it could be that you need to replace your charcoal canister. this device captures stray fuel fumes from the gas tank. I've heard that when these fail people experience similar symptoms to what you're experiencing.
ofcourse keep it simple first, and check all other things before replacing anything.

I had the same problem recently. I had some oil leaking out of my driver side valve cover because the bolts are loose. after torking them to spec. no more problem.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feed back. I thought of the charcoal canister tonight, so I will definately take a look at that in the morning.
I should also double check, again, to see if I have any oil that could be possibly be leaking out and burning off the motor. I haven't seen any, but I could be not looking hard enough...heh.
Please keep your feedbacks coming, just in case there could be some other possible complication...

Three step process:
Step 1: torque to 33 ft-lbs
step 2: turn 1/4 turn
step 3: turn 1/4 turn

Haynes calls it a cylinder head cover.
