So I am running the Richard Stubbs Sliderz...

For the price how can you go wrong....

However, I took some heat down at the Rockware shop while my rig was on the lift. (not that they were knocking your work Richard!)

but, after comparing my sliderz with Darrens Slees and Hedgehogs Rockware I have to tell everyone, If you have the cash...............GO CUSTOM.

There isn't any comparison really, my sliders looked like toothpicks compared to the beefy setups with the square tubing. I have been a little nervous about the connection points on the frame and Rockware reinforced all three welding points with gussets for added strength. I have no issues with strength now, and just for the record i am very proud to be running the Stubbs Sliderz.

Also to be considered was the price. I think both Doug and Darren paid 500-525 for theirs. Mine were 160-180 plus the 45 for the gussets. Just a comparison for those thinking custom.

I thought Richard said something about making sure that the sliders weren't stronger than the weld or something like that?

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think what richard was saying was, that overbuilt tubing and welding could lead to frame damage if an impact was severe enough to bend and warp the frame instead of just bending or breaking off your slider.

Sliders can be replaced

My gussets aren't that strong, They just provide a little piece of mind on the trail and if I ever crawl under my rig when it is on the high lift.

I guess I would rather have a slightest of slight twisted frame (<.5") than a couple of doors that get crushed and won't open because of weak sliders that flex or break. Make your sliders and your welds STRONG.

IMO, no gussets on sliders is like a scarecrow playing with fire.

When I got my All Pro sliders, I was suprised by how tiny the provided gussets were, but used them anyway. When hi- lifting, I was getting so much flex out of them the sliders were hitting the body, despite notching my pinch welds and leaving a half inch gap, as specified by All Pro .

I had to cut the damn things off, grind my frame smooth, and re weld them lower, with some beefy 3/8 steel triangles...
No flex now.
Also, they seem a little short, about 4 inches from the wheel wells. At first i was concerned that somthing could get through that void and hit the body, but it hasn't happened, and hopfully won't.
