For those of you with rock sliders and who are anal about keeping all parts of their rig looking nice, here's a tip that Skydigger and I were talking about...

To help protect the underside of your sliders from sractches and thus rust, use undercoating or a liquid bed liner like Herculiner or Rhino Liiner on the bottom of the sliders.

I think that Skydigger put (or is getting ready to put) some undercoating on his. I'm still waiting for some $$ to come in to get my sliders, but I'll probably go with Rhino liner. Not sure exactly how well it'll hold up, but I'll keep you posted.

Protection for your protection eh? I'm pretty sure hurculiner will come off just as easilly as paint when scraped against a sharp rock with lots of weight on the slider. Also, the abrasive nature of those coatings would make them want to stick to the rocks rather than slide on them resulting in a need for much more force to make them slide.

They are called sliders right? Those bedliner type products advertise about preverting things from sliding on them. I think they would kinda defeat the rock sliding concept.

I think the best thing to put on sliders to prevent rust is the cheapest flat black spraypaint you can find. If you scrape them, just mask of the body and go for it with a $3 can of paint. Whatever you put on there will be scraped off with use. Use the cheap stuff if you really plan on sliding rocks on them.

In cases of rock chips and protection from gravel kicked up by the tires the liner stuff will be be better though. I guess you have to consider how they will be used. If they are just expensive steps/mudflaps than you'd want special coating on them. If you expect serious contact with rocks/true body protection, rattle can them.
