Should it stay or should it go, now?

If it stays it will be trouble,
If it goes, well... That's about it. It just goes.

My engine is toast again. I just rebuilt the thing last summer and it seems that a rod or main bearing is now out. I had a machine shop bore out the short block and rebuild using what they claimed were factory parts, so we will see. It would still be under warrenty, but I think the shop has been bought out as their name changed reently. I'll still at least check out that route.

Honestly, I think I am done with it. In rough estimates, I figured all of this:
I would have to be passionate about the truck to take the time to rebuild it myself. It needs a new tranny (auto at 205 and still going, but starting to howl and slip a bit), new engine (that I just did a year ago and I would only be interseted in doing this again if I were getting a 3.4), new seats (the leather is toast on the front seats), new interior (Some wood trim needs to be replaced), new speakers (mine are fatory and blown). To get all that done I am loking at spending over $6,000 andprobably a month or two of time working on it away from my family and away from making more money.

Basically that justifies me spending that much on a another car. With this option I get to keep making extra money doing extra work, I still get to spend time with my family for those 2 months, and I could probably save a lot on gas being I drive about 60 miles a day for work.

Still don't know if I keep the rig or not. I would like to as I would love to finish what I had planned for it, but I don't have anywhere to store it... my Parents did just get some vacation property North of San Antonio, though.... hmmmmm.

My advise is to sell and buy a 3rd gen. That's what I'm did. Except I did it before my motor went. You'll be much happier with the 3.4L.

Well... I'm looking at other vehicles today. This one is officially on the back burner if anything at this point. If anyone offers the right price, they can have it.

just park it somewhere ... and when you have time later on in life come back to it. Without a motor or a tranny .. it'll be pretty much worthless to sell it to someone else.

Sorry to hear Ted, do you have any pics of the runner? I'm going to have an extra 3.0 engine and auto tranny after I do my 3.4 swap and I've been kind of looking for a runner with a blown engine to put them in.

What about a warranty on that rebuilt engine you just did?
