Question Selling my 1996 4Runner and buying 2000 model LC.

Hello,
I am thinking about selling my 1996 4Runner and buying 2000 model Land Cruiser.
LC has 72 K on it. I do occasional off roading when I go on a Hunting trip (8 weekends a year) and I pull 3000 Lbs boat in a Summer time.
I am not firm on this idea so what you guys think?
Thank you in advance.

Unless you plan on hauling more gear and people, I don't really see the point. My .02.

If the LC's a nice one and the price is right, sounds like a reasonable course of action to me. You get a much larger and more luxurious vehicle which is 4 years newer. The recent LCs are a class act, IMHO.

Drawbacks: This will be a more expensive vehicle to license, insure and feed. I'd expect at least a 20% increase in fuel consumption over your 4R. Yearly depreciation will also be significantly greater than you're now experiencing with your '96. Also, consider that buying ANY used vehicle is something of a crapshoot, since you likely won't have any warranty. I'd have a competent mechanic look it over before buying, even if you pay $100 or so to have it done.

Good luck.

The look over is def worth it....

I almost bought a T-100 when I bought my '94....had it checked and found the vehicle had been in an accident, the motor had been out of the vehicle and the frame was a little tweaked......glad I had it checked...

If it checks and its what you want I say charge it....

although still not ideal, the LC will be a safter towing setup for 3k than the 4runner will be. just a thought.

I've owned a 2004 LC and I'll tell you, it's not nearly as nimble as a 4Runner. It's under powered w/ the 4.7 liter for day to day driving, I found for 60k the vehicle just didn't perform as I wanted it to, and hauling around 6,000 lbs for one to four people is just insane. I should have bought a GX470 instead. Anyways, think long and hard about going from a 4Runner to an LC, it's just such a beast.

How about a 2000 4Runner since that year is one you can find with both reasonable miles and price and it is a step up from a '96 Runner but then again it's still not a sweet LC.
