seat question for 1996 4runner please help!

please help me if you know....my boyfriend has a 1996 toyota 4runner that is in decent condition but the seats (front passenger and driver) are shot! For Christmas I am trying to get some newer seats for runner....i found some seats at a local junk yard that are in good condition and they said they are compatible with the year, but am wondering a couple things...first of all, the ones he has now are electric, and the newer ones are manual...would they still be compatible? if they would be who should i have install them to be sure they are installed right? please help! thanks!!!!!

electric seats..thats just wrong in a runner.

Yea, you should look to see if the tracks and mounting positions are same. Im almost sure they are, as the mounts to the frame are universal.

So, rip out the old ones and mount the new ones. YOU will def. want to rip out the mounting tracks from the new ones as hey may be a different width and what not.. but you should be able to make it work.

Electric seats. Psst. Those belong in an old caddy.

First check the year of the donor 4Runner. It should fit from 96-02. As for the manual seats, they will fit, but they will not have any electrical functions obvioulsy, so you should see if this is something that is important to him.
As for installing them, you should post up a location as there may be a member on here near by that can help. It really is a very quick swap, maybe 15minutes.
Also check sites like craiglist and etc. for seats, or in the classified section if anyone is parting a vehicle out. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f109/

The four mounting holes on the floor should match with the legs coming down, I'm pretty sure its that simple.

Well,First off electric(power)seats are leather,so replacing with manual/cloth maynot be the right way to go.If by shot...you mean leather is worn through, even if foam is comming apart...I would sugest seat covers that "slip on",If foam is out, duct tape the spot, then slip the covers on.There are some very high quality ones out there..

If you mean by shot, they don't move(motors out, rare, but I guess can happen) and also the leather is ripper..Maybe some super clean manual ones would work...they woulld be direct bolt in and any mechanical shop could do them, very easy...4 bolts per seat.

I would highly recommend these:
For leather, probably the best besides OEM/aftermarket(big$$) roduct Code: T510

For CR 100% neoprene(wetsuit material),very popular, and they fit like a glove:Lots of colors,Black will match any interior color:

Well, I was in a similar situation and found that the 99 Limited seats had longer tracks than my 96 did by about an inch. You can take the seat cushion off (4 bolts under the plastic trim panel) and swap them over. The seat backs are the same. I'd say buy the good leather ones and if the power seats work fine then let him swap the bad leather for the good. It's pretty easy to do if you're even slightly mechanically inclined.
