seat belt/key minder bell

I am wondering if anyone know how to disable the key minder bell. Sometimes I like to listen to the radio when I get gas and i can't hear it with the stupid key minder bell blaring. I want to find it and smash it. It sounds like it is behind the fuse panel, but I can't find it, nor do I know what it looks like. Any ideas?

can't you just turn your key one more 'notch'? That stops it for me.

Here you go. When I started this thread on another form I just cut my wire but if you read on you will see where some guy's have found a way to do it without cutting. They just unpluged it under the dash.
All your other bells will work but this way you can play the radio with the doors open. It makes it nice when your cleaning it up or waxing in the back yard, Mike

How does this all work for a 93?

I don't mind the buzzing except for when I first turn on the truck and it sounds for about 10 seconds!

Really don't know anything about the wireing on a 93 but if you read all the feed backs from the link above you may be able to find someone who did there's. Mike

I unplugged mine (87 4runner). the wire is in the drivers kick pannel. havent had it plugged in for at least 10 years. the only draw back is that the interior light doesnt come on when I open the door.

Thanks Beartracker
I have a 2000 4runner sport and I found a connector to unplug to make it stop dinging when its in the ACC position. I looked for the wires to the seat belt in order to ground them, but Toyota did to good a job of hiding its wireing. I wish I could just find that dam Piezo and neutralize it.

One of the problems (if you want to look at it that way) is doing it the way I did it will disable the ding-ding with the key in the acc so you can listen yo the radio with the door open but it will also disable the reminder that your key is in the ignition. Not a problem for me because I carry an extra key.
Some guys have found a blue connecter under there dash right under the steering column, and they say if you disconnect that it works the same as my way of cutting the wire. All the rest of the bells and whistles will still work.
If you are just trying to unplug the seat belt warning for some reason I really can't help. Mike

If you look in your fuse boxes you may be able to find the fuse that takes care of that and trace the wire to what your looking for. Some of these repair manual sites have the wireing diagram for all this stuff.. I'm just really bad at understanding the electrical circuit's for autos
