Screwing into pillar

hey guys, im wanting to put some custom fabbed brackets on the outside of my a-pillar, right on the little strip of metal between the windshield and the door crack, at the bottom of the pillar. if i can dig up a pic ill post it. am i going to run into any issues putting 3 or 4 short, self-tapping screws in a vertical line into this? im going to seal them to prevent leakage but am i going to run into some wires or hurt the windshield? thanks!

I think the wires for the lights at the rearview mirror run up there if I remember correctly. You can pull off the Oh Sheet handle and pop the inside cap off and pull the wire loom back from the pillar before you pre-drill and fasten the screws. Plenty of room in there, but don't run more than a 1/2" screw.
