rubbing noise when cold

rubbing noise when cold
i have a wierd noise when steering (right or left) - sound like something rubbing - usually just when cold but also if steering when going over a bump (speed bump) etc.
any ideas?

are you talking about when the steering wheel is at what they call "full lock" - meaning it will turn no more in that direction, b/c on all vehicles you get that "rubbing noise" from the steering system. but check under and make sure nothing's caught under their such as sticks or even mud built up. saying this b/c i heard a rubbing noise one time, couldn't find it for a few days, and it turned out to be like a 3-inch stick...

okay, so it does it when you 1st start the truck up? check your power-steering fluid level, as sometimes if it's low, you'll get some noise from the pump...
