Right shocks for my lift?

Hey, what's up? I havent been doing so good with my 4runner lately. I have all of my axle problems fixed after rebuilding the entire side. But Now I'm at the point where every time I offroad it I tear the CV boots. They are fine as long as they stay on road but offroad I think they are over extending and ripping the inside most boot.

Right now I have OME 881 coils and about 1.75 to 2 inches of daystar spacers above them. I have the diff drop, and I have some sort of Racho shocks that I bought a long time ago. I wanted to try and change the shocks so that they don't overextend. I didn't want to use the limiting straps.

I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good set of shocks for this application? So that they wont overextend and keep rippig my CVs.

Thanks guys!!!!

I don't think the shocks are the problem. The use of the spacers is the problem. Shocks are the limiting factor. Since you have spacers on top, the shock extend the additional length causing the wheel to droop beyond the CVs design causing failure. I'm surprised you don't break CVs every trip. I'm thinking you need to use limiting straps.

I'd agree with Gerdo on this one Jason. I'd guess you're getting in the range of 3.25-3.5" of lift in the front, which is too much for IFS without limiting straps. I'm running the OME 882's with OME N91SC shocks and get right at 3". Cross your fingers that I've been fine off road so far as far as the CV's go. Instead of looking at different shocks, I'd think about doing the 882's with a trim packer on each side or even the OME 883's. Any way you go, limiting straps might be your best friend here.

Sounds good, I guess I'll have to go that route, I'm just worried about ripping more boots while I'm diling them in, is there any way to know how much to set the limiting straps for? Like what is the lowest droop I would want? Thanks again guys!!!

put the front of your runner on jack stands (with the suspension at droop), put the jack under the lower ball joint and jack it up tell you like a cv angle that you would like to have a full droop and you have your distance/length for your limiting straps.

Is there a rule of thumb for a good CV angle, or is it just if the CV doesnt break again you know you have it right?

Ordered the setup today, I see the mount kits come with a long set of instructions so I'll replace the CV and install the kit and see if that helps. It should I'm guessing. Thanks again for the help!!
