I'm about to replace my Dueler Revo 265-75-16s with Nitto Terra Grappler 285-75-16s. I feel good about the tire choice (spoke with folks at Slee who recommend this tire enough to keep it in stock) but I'm slightly leery about going so much bigger. According to the folks at my local tire shop, I should get about 1.25" more hight, and according to Slee, I may have a slight amount of rub, that wouldn't cause any problems. Is there any reason to not go with the 285s and maybe get 275s instead? Will I see a significant change in mileage or ride quality? See my suspension setup in my sig. Thanks in advance!

Why don't you like 'em? Have you had them on your rig? I pretty much trust the guys at Slee 100%...

I know a few people that run them and they say they do okay. A few of them have complained about their performance in snow/ice. I've noticed that a lot of people that come into work (discount tire) switch them out for other brands.

Maybe check out the Cooper Discoverer STT's. They seem to be coming more popular and I've been considering getting some myself.

I've great things about those tires. I would definitely give them a go. As for ride quality I don't think you'll have any issues there. You'll likely see a slight decrease in mileage.

I think the Terra Grapplers have a cool look to them, I've never had them, but there are a few dudes in my area that run with them. I'm running 285 Toyo Mt's for when I wheel and I've got another set in 33's with rims..I stand by these after I had a fall out with my BFG AT's. (WRECK=RAin) Are the DEulers Big O TIres?? If you choose Discount check out the DESTinations, AT or MT's, I know some guys are wrapped in those...maybe EricJenna??

opps forgot that i didn't mention the difference in ride quality, just minor chang in gas mileage, but I think its that I have MT's now and a heavier foot;.)

I've been running Nitto TGs, 265/75R16, for over 2 years and am very happy with them. Don't drive much on ice here, but they're great in the rain and pretty good in snow.

As for the height gain they're being a bit generous at Slee, you'll only get 15mm more ground clearance. 285-265 = 20mm x 75% = 15mm. That's just over 1/2". True the tires are almost 1.25" bigger in diameter, but it's only the bottom half that counts.

I keep recommending the firestone destination AT or MT but no one seems to want them, they are hands down the best tires around for the AT/MT pretty much by tire rack.

I had the 285/75/16 on mine for awhile, the cooper STT. best tires hands down, anyway a litle difference in ride from the 265's, I loved it though

I ran a set of 265/75 Nittos on my Runner for a while. Very good AT tire, especially for the price. They have quite a bit of siping and work good in the rain and ok in the snow too. If you are looking for a MT, I highly recommend the Pro Comp Xtreme MT(new one). They are very similar to the Cooper STT and are even made by Cooper. Great road manners for a MT and awesome offroad, especially rocks. Just a thought.

Just got 'em put on. I'll post a pic soon, but my first impression is that at least aesthetically, these look damn good. Going 265 > 285 really filled up the wheel well nicely, and I got a noticeable amount of lift. I just drove an hour to the airport on the highway and noticed no change in road noise, and maybe a BIT of a power sap, but I can't say that definitively yet. I'm driving up to a buddy's on dirt roads that probably have mixed snow and mud later today and I'm thinking they'll do great.
