Rewiring my FLX210’s to run off the ignition: Wiring advice needed
Guys-
I have not had any problems with my current configuration - which runs the fans based on coolant temperature…but I think I want to change that. I would like my fans to turn off when the ignition is off. What do I tap into?
I currently have both the switch and the + running off the battery (the easy way to do it). How hard will it be to run the switch from another source? I just got a new digital multi-meter, so I could always use that…
Wiring is not my forte. Can someone help? Thank you!

Do you have a Toy service manual? Look for wires going to the underhood fuse box that are hot when the key is on. I can't remember what wire I tapped, but I picked it from the harness going to the underhood fuse box. I stripped some wire back, wrapped the FLX ign wire and soldered it on and wrapped with HS tape.

One more question...
So let's just say I tapped into the wiper fuse wire (for example). If both are activated during one of the 5 days of rain we have here, will it cause both the wipers and the fans to run at a rate that is below normal?
Probably a dumb question, but electrical stuff confuses me.
Thanks!

I got it from Tom at www.mralternator.com
Let me dig up the thread. It is a direct replacement. I had them powdercoat it yellow (for kicks)
EDIT: OK since Verizon blew away my website, I don't have the pics. I'll work on getting some "after" pics posted.

I wired my Piaa fogs by tapping into the wire that turns on my radio when the ignition is turned on. I just pulled out the radio and used a splice lock on the red wire.

96,
My only advice to share is make sure what ever wire you tap into is of the same size wire guage (or close to it). You don't want to tap into a 18 awg wire with a 8 awg. the wire that you are tapping will need to be able to handle the additional amp load of the circuit you are adding (fire is bad). Just my .$02
