replacing all bushings
I've just acquired a 86 runner with a newly rebuilt 22re and tranny. the motor prior to rebuild seeped oil all over. I mean all over and thick with glamis sand and silt. all the rubber is shot and I found a "master" kit for about a buck 40. "Daystar "Super Kits" are a complete master set of all poylurethane components available for your vehicle." . anyone have a clue on how hard and how long it might take a mear mortal to replace all the bushings. special tools needed?? presses for a arms? stuff I should repace while its all taken apart. thanks for any and all help in advance.

Never done it on a yota, but did it twice on Honda CRXs. It is a lot of work. For the bigger ones, an oxy-acetylene torch with a cutting attachment is useful for burning the old bushings out. Obviously, if you go that route, be careful not to melt the arm itself, or the bushing center piece if your kit didn't come with those. Other than that it just takes lots of elbow grease and cursing.
Might try doing a search to see if anybody did a write up on this. HTH

I'm in the same boat too. My newly acquired 84 SR5 pickup is in dire need of replacement bushings. The 84 service manual I won from ebay should be here anytime. When I get that, I'll start replacing the bushings. You should really look into getting a service manual for your 4 runner. Good luck!
