Repair Questions

I just had to put my '87 4Runner in the shop for a blown head gasket. On the way to the mechanic it stalled on me a few times until it wouldn't start any more and I had to get it towed the last mile or so. I am hoping that it stalled due to bad compression. Has anyone experienced this before? Should I expect to pay for more than just the gasket replacement? I'm hoping everything will turn out well, but I'm having trouble being optimistic.

if it stalled, and wouldnt start, you might have done some internal damage... my mom did that a couple years ago in her ford... well she essentially ended up cracking the heads... and htey needed to be replaced....
