Removing rear 3rd

Hey guys, i'm taking out my differentials in order to chop off some price of a new gear and locker install. I have completely disconnected everything to the rear 3rd and even pulled it out a ways. The problem is i cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove this ABS sensor thing (i think thats what it is) on the 3rd member that has a hose going to it. This prevents me from taking it out from under my 4runner. Any ideas on how to remove it? It had 1 bolt going into the 3rd but i already removed it and tried yanking it off.

Well, if it is anything like a 3rd gen, and you are talking about the plastic sensor housing that has one 10mm bolt, then you just need to pry it out. Mine took some coaxing, but finally slid out.

Still be careful, I am not 100% positive about the piece you are talking about...

We might be talking about two different things. Let's see if one of the 2nd gen experts chime in here. At least you got some free bumps!

Just unplug it up along the framerail (trace the wire, there's a plug up there) I could not get mine out, but my new 3rd had one in it, so no biggie...

Just did a lokcer install on a 2nd gen yesterday. Just pry it up and out. I was able to squeaz it and wiggle it violently back and forth till it slid up and out. Try grabbin it with some plyers and wiggling it. Just don't squease the plyers to hard and crush the sensor. It will come out.

well, i started prying it up and it started to come out. i got it about halfway out and all a sudden it broke in half, leaving the other half of the cylinder in the case. there looks like it broke right where 2 contacts meet so it might still work if i tap it back in when i reinstall it, dunno though. might just have to go out and buy a whole new line.
oh well, time to move on to the front

About this ABS sensor on my 3rd member, if has been pulled in two, but split where it looks like 2 contacts meet, will it still work if i jam the other part back into it? It will hold really tight together this way it looks like. I hate to jerry rig it, but it would just be for now, until i can maybe get one from a junkyard or somethin.
