removed sway bar yesterday... any input would be sweet!

Well after reading and searching for a while I decided I would try my rig without the front sway bar. I pulled it out yesterday and gave both of my T bars 3 full turns just to stiffen the front end up a little. When I installed my BJ spacers I un-wound my T bars and made the front end really soft, which is good but with no sway I thought I would tighten it up a little. After I took the bar off I decided I would hit the trails for an hour. What a difference! You know I can’t really tell it’s not under there on the road, but I haven’t taken it out on the highway at 75mph yet either. I can tell a difference in tight turns, the front end seems to dive a little, but I can live with it. On the trail the front end twists up nicely now. When I would cross a wash out before I would lift a wheel, not any more! I think this with the BJ spacers is the way to go. I really think and I could be wrong that the sway bar really restricts full range of motion on the IFS. This may be a good thing on a rig that only sees highway use but for back roads and wheeling I think it takes away from your rigs potential. I did notice that it rides a little better on rough roads in that if you hit a dip only the wheel in it tracks it, does that make any sense! Does any one have any words of advice on setting my suspension up from here? OR any thing I need to be aware of by running my front end with out the bar? Thanks again ... Matt

Been running with out front sway bars for a couple years now.

WOrds of advise....

Dont try and take a corner at 60 !

Cool its not that bad!

I hooked a turn marked at 20mph at about 35 and it leaned a little more than ususal but nothing that bad. Im sure if I had to swerve at 80mph It might be a little sketchy but nothing I cant handle!

Why not use sway bar disconnects? This way you get the best of both worlds.......

I tryed disconnecting the swaybar also and loved it off road. Since I live in the mountain and drive curvy road, I had to reconnect the swaybar, but used Lars Dennert's quick disconnects. They're beefy enough to take what the road has to dish out and very quick to take off for the dirt. I highly recommend them!
