remove 97 4Runner plastic instrument panel
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and I just bought a 97 4Runner with low mileage. I found some heavy rattling noise close to the VIN plate below the windshield. So can anyone tell me how to remove the plastic instrument panel without damaging other parts, and to access the VIN plate area?
Also, the 3.4 engine runs a little bit louder compared to newer passenger cars, especially during a cold start. During cold start, engine will calm down after about 30 seconds. Is it normal for a 4Runner? Thanks, Kevin.

Kevin I found your thread on a search and embarrassed to see no one replied.
I am searching for hints on instrument panel removal also.
I hope that by now this is figured out. And you likely now know that the 3rd gens run and idle kind of loud for the first few minutes until warmed up.
