hello, i posted this a few days abo but it got deleted because i put a "non-descriptive" title on so i need to re-post. i have a 97 4runner and am about to get a snorkel. i like deep water crossings but am worried about water getting in the inteior through the door seals. is there any way at all to rienforce these? has anyone attempted this? maybe get thicker rubber or something? it seems pointless to get a snorket if you cant go deeper than the bottom of the door.. any suggestions?

just get huge inflatable pontoons on the rocker panels of your truck, when you get ready to cross deep water, deploy them and you'll float accross. If you're tires don't have aggressive enough treads to paddle through the water, just get somebody to operate a little trolling motor out the back hatch.

You'll also need to worry about it coming through the floorboards. There are numerous holes - including bolt holes where the body attaches to the frame.

You get water up that high w/o waterproofing the engine and the other dozen or so places water is going to come in...not to mention your ECU and fuse box, electrical wires, etc...and door seals are going to be the least of your worries. I think you are scratching the wrong itch.

get a retired military hummer with a fording kit if you plan on driving through 5 foot deep water
