Redoing Exhaust.

So my Vortex is loud and quite droney - still with that great tone .

I went and talked to a local garage (JR's) and they quoted me $130 to install everything. This is my plan:

High Flow Cat - eBay
Single In/Dual Out 18" Magnaflow - eBay
Piping - JR's

We put my 4Runner on the rack and we got to talking, me and Melvin that is. Our plan was to run a 2.5" in/out of the cat and a 2.5" in the muffler with a 2.25" out on the dual rears. He heard the Vortex and said it would be deeper than the Vortex. Im getting a job there in January, but that is besides the point! Would that make backpressure okay? Melvin said Magnaflow are built to hold back backpressure , so he said I'd be fine.

The owner and my family are good friends and (I had no idea until 2 days ago) the shop he is in was my grandfather's mechanic shop before he suffered a stroke. I've been over at my grandfather's house in his garage using his tools (he's got tons) and come to realize, JR said that with how I'm coming and talking to him about cars, that is what [JR] used to do with my grandfather. I guess it is a small world.

I'm only running 2.5" in and out of the cat to the muffler. After the muffler it's 2.25.

Can new piping effect the tone of exhaust?

yeah it has to do with resonance but more than likely not too much. even though your stock piping may look old and rusty, it's definitely better quality than what a shop uses, keep oem tubing when at all possible

Got a 2.5 In 2.25 Dual Out Magnaflow 18" for 68.00. Will running 2.5" into the muffler then 2.25" out be okay?
