rear window problem --> don't see how it can be a relay?

i'm new to toyota scene, so please be gentle! i've also searched, but got back 5 or 6 pages with no luck, so...

2000 4Runner LTD. the rear window works perfectly using the dash button, but will not work at all with the key fob, or the key in the gate?

the rear wiper doesn't work either. is there a fuse panel back there somewhere that may have a blown fuse?

TIA.

there is an entire 'back door ecu' that controls
the stuff u haz non worky, and yes it has a fuse
but that fuse controls the body ecu, so you'd see
more stuff busted.

The rear wiper won't work if it thinks the window is down, neither will the rear defroster. Maybe it thinks the window isn't all the way up.

x2 The window will not operate correctly when it is down-you look right at it and swear it is up, but you have left a small crack that is not completing the circuitry.

So when this is the case the rear window defrost and rear window wiper will not function.

Solution is make the window go all the way up. Some folks have said send it all the way down and all the way back up.

Also be aware that when the master window lock is depressed/engaged the passenger windows and the rear window are locked out. Push again on the switch to disengage it.

I think you have a combination of both going on. Especially since you admit newbi-ness.

i appreciate the help, but the window works perfectly if i just use the switch.

the window will not operate at all with the key fob or with the key in the rear door switch. i'm pretty mechanical, but i haven't had the rear door panel off yet. it seems to me it has to be something in there somewhere. when you press the button on the key fob, you can hear a small noise at first.

i will try the rear wiper again though.

a buddy has the same year/model as mine and i even had him try just to make sure.

any more suggestions?

thanks man. i think you are correct. i mainly wanted to verify that there wasn't a switch, relay, etc that only controlled "remote access" to the rear window. there doesn't appear to be one, so, here we go!
