Rear window only moves an inch
I have searched the forum, but I was not able to find an issue similar to the one I am having.
When I push the "down" button (inside the car) for the rear window, or use the key in the hatch, the rear window moves down about an inch and then stops. There are not any noises or anything when it stops. When I hit the "up" button, the window immediately goes back up and is closed. I have tried to help pull the window down when I am opening it, but it has not gone any further than the original inch. It is a 96 SR5.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

is your wiper working properly? there is a safety feature where you cant roll down the window when the wiper is active.
im not sure how to test if things are out of synched, but thats the direction you might want to go.

try this
Dont know if this will help, but my window did the same thing...The cable for the locking mechanism in the door was blocking the lift arms on the window (cause the retaining clip dropped the cable)...If I were you I would take the access panel off of the door and check this...if this is the problem, then all that is gonna happen is that you will end up shearing off the cog on the window motor drive shaft...trust me on this one, I have some experience with that!!! Other than that...not sure. Hope this works out for ya

I took the rear panel off and noticed that one of the bolts from the wiper motor had come loose so the motor was hanging in the way of the window track. I screwed it back in and the window was able to travel on the track again. Free fix!!!
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
