Rear window motor problems

So its gone and crapped out, no big surprise.

The problem is i cant get the gate down to work on it with the window up. How can i get the window down without the motor working>>>??

You gotta crawl in back and take it apart. Bring a drink and all the tools you think you don't need cause it sucks having to go get something once you're back there. Or get the wife/girlfriend to help you.

ya i had to do this also. I imagine it would be 2 as bad in a 1st gen since there are only 2 doors instead of 4.

I had to do the same thing with my 2nd gen. It was a pain. You maybe able to put a bunch of grease in there and crank it down by hand so you can open the tail gate.

this worked for me.... but can't guarantee anything....

my motor crapped out on me as well.... i crawled in back and opened up the carpet and metal plate off.... then while my brother turned the key to open the window, i tapped the motor lightly with a hammer.... it jostled it enough to open..... then i was able to work on it without being crammed in the cargo bay.....

give it a shot, its worth a try at least.... good luck

I had one person push the window down switch and I put my freshly cleaned palms on clean glass and pushed down. Worked like a charm.
