Rear Window Mechanism Lube?
Hi folks, I'm over from 4x4wire while they install a new server. Anyhow, I just got a '98 4cyl Runner and one of the little things I want to do is lube the rear window mechanism. The first problem is: how do you get to it? The next question is: what's your favorite grease for these kinds of things? White lithium?
Thanks, Edy

You have to remove the panel on the inside of the liftgate, it's held on by those stupid plastic clips that like to break so be careful. Pry it off with a screwdriver and then remove the inner metal panel. You'll then see the mechanism. I just usually use the same grease I use for the driveshafts, it doesn't get exposed to much water in there so anything will probably work. I aslo lube the rubber around the window frame with silicone.
It's a bit of a pita on a 3rd gen as you either have to do it with the liftgate up and reach above your head, or lower it and crawl in the back. It used to be much easier on my 2nd gen where you could lower the tailgate.
