Rear window down with aftermarket keyless entry system!
Is this impossible? I have a 2000 4runner 4cylinder 5spd. It did not come with a keyless entry system. I want to put an aftermarket system in but I want the aux button to roll down the back window. Every place I talk to says it is impossible, including the dealership. Does anyone know how to do this? Please help!

here is a very window module that goes with a viper alarm Some people will just give you wrong answers instead of telling you they don't know

actually, neither of those will really work well...
The rear window ecu needs a timed "pulse" not those units for regular windows
This can be done with a different box specifically made for timed pulses, or a relay or two , capacitor, and some other know-how
any competent and experienced installer should know how to figure it out if you give him the details...
even simpler would be to tie directly to switch on dash, and go only up or down, but I forget if you have to hold that down for a second first as well

go to a good install shop. im an installer and i know it can be done. most installers will tell you cant do it because it is a crap load of work and they just dont want to do it. it will be pricey tho and you'll need to find an installer that really knows his stuff

Aftermarket Alarm selfinstall
Hey 98.T4R,
I know this is an old thread, we'll see if you get this. I am installing a remote start/keyless entry/alarm in my 01 4runner. I have a couple of quick questions if you don't mind. For the rear window, can you not just use a relay and the trunk release output that puts out a 10s continuous pulse to lower the window? And for the 2 stage door locks. If i turn the key once, it unlocks just the driver door and a second unlocks all doors. How do I keep this function with the keyless entry? It says it is possible, but not how. I guess a better question is how this is currently handled by the car? Thanks for any help
